Bed time.

Limiting pleasures by the clock. Enough already! It's time to move from this resting place. I start work tomorrow teaching art at a boarding school.

Footnote from wikipedia: The equivalent of bed time in boarding school is lights-out; a term also used in prisons and in sleep research.

Bedside movement

I am still attracted, like a magnet to metal, to my bed. There's got to be a sense of movement as things in my life shift and I quit the wallowing. Small oil paint on canvas- 4 x 4 x 2 inches Loads of paint! So in the mood!

Divorce document #40- A semblance of the truth

Who's to say, with our separation alone clocking 14 months and the marriage itself rolling over 24 years, who's to blame? The truth has been lost in the twists and turns of division and addition of a new world view. My paintings in this series have been a journey expressing living fears, numbing fantasies and a few facts... thrown in for effect. Judging from the overwhelming responses I have received, the story seems to be more universal than unique. My closest girlfriends can be worried, and I... hope to humbly reassure everyone... that this is only, as the found headline states, "a semblance of the truth". It's art.

To the County Fair

to paint in public...
http://www.tillystudio.com/sketchbook-countyfair.php There is a paint out happening with about 26 of my art friends tomorrow! Sponsored by the Dutchess County arts Council. Stop by and see us!

Divorce document #39

There's no postponing it... so here are the last paintings in the 40 paintings for 40 pages of the divorce agreement. Each of the 5 x 5 inch paintings were created in response to the impending legal document and inspired by a newspaper headline.
Tomorrow I go to meet with my lawyer and create the most probable final version. I can't remember when this all started.

This is mine. I can own it.

THIS is the bed I have made.
wood, paper, ink, coffee, paint, wire, soon to be sewn with waxed linen thread.

It's no substitute for a backbone

but a wishbone can make a nice gift. Eleanore stopped by today and gave me a small bag of bones. I was making my bed and thought what a nice thing it might be to have a bed of wishbones. Then I thought about other things... rocks, feathers, keys, etc... This particular little bed is going to have my 24 divorce-document-pity-wallowing paintings sewn to it. It's my bed. I made it.

The 23rd & 24th hours before getting up

At last, I can put my two feet on the ground. My heart has been wrapped up and cradled. I found a whole new outlook on all of this. Its obvious that my story is riddled with heavenly blessings.
I feel transformed!

More Bedside wallowing and living myths

Notes from an airplane crash survival manual

Hours 17- 22 in bed ruminating over the demise of my 24 year roles. The main worry for me in this whole divorce deal is the kids. Who is watching the kids? Who is protecting them?
And I wake to flowers and handwritten poetry...
Not so bad.

Bedside wallowing hours 12-16

Making an artistic piece out of pain and confusion is my way of processing. It eventually brings me some clarity.
