celebrating Haitian history

Many Miamians tonight are listening to the story of Henri Christophe who was born October 6 and died October 8 at 53 years old. While a former slave he fought in the American Revolution protecting Savannah Georgia and later became a key leader in the Haitian revolution against the French (1791-1804). He declared himself President for Life and died in office in 1820. The Citadel and his palace, the Sans Souci are now declared World Heritage sites.
Above is a picture of my dad and sister at the Sans Souci Palace last March.
