Party Time
Got the place swept up, menu confirmed, groceries procured, prices decided, and... things are looking good. Hopefully a few people will actually show up. It will be a great way to end the week. I am hoping to be able to pay off the residency balance by the end of the weekend.
No matter what happens, painting is my life. I have to do it and it defines me. Tomorrows party is a chance to share with like minded people and celebrate the bond I have developed with my studio mates- Martha, Patricia, Zanze and Mariana. I really do adore these women.

Visualizing what I need
I took brush to the wall and wrote down exactly what I need this week. In order to get to Vermont for my dream residency at the Vermont Studio Center, I need a thousand dollars by the weekend.
My little cut out plane is moving me along the money line to the goal- an easel!
Imagine: four weeks all to myself to paint, in beautiful rural Vermont, all meals provided, a bed, and visiting artists/teachers/writers to share with. I've never had such luxury. And it is within reach.

Itty Bitty's selling out fast
Thanks to all my friends at work, I am closer to my goal. So many itty bitty bird paintings have been purchased as mother's day gifts, that I barely got time to sign them, and hardly took a photograph. It has been exciting and invigorating to paint so many, FIFTY, and sell them so fast, CHEAP. I like flowing the art through me and have no need to keep these close... these birds are meant to be scattered in the wind.
Here is what the collection looks like today:

Mother's day: only a week away... think artful gifts
Affordable Itty Bitty Sale. These (3 inch by 3 inch canvas) paintings of party birds may satisfy your wanderings for the unique token of affection. Pass one to your mother, or someone else who deserves a little color in their lives. Birds sing, fly, nest, mate, and pollinate our world. They certainly inspire me. I painted them in flight, feeding, resting, singing, gloating, brooding, guarding, traveling, and more! All together, there are 50 itty bitty paintings painted over the last two weeks, and I am asking $12 per canvas. I hope most everyone can find a reason to buy one. The proceeds will help me bridge the gap in my finances needed to participate in the summer painting residency program of my dreams.
We are having a studio Party (One year anniversary) on Friday the 8th. I am taking pre-party sales on Wednesday and Thursday. Reserve your favorite one and, if I get paid before the party on Friday, I will mark it sold!

Miami Dade Artist's Society (MIDAS)
Her studio is two blocks from mine. She teaches classes and hosts group parties, sharing fun ways to approach paint. (It is so much fun getting to know the neighbors!) Her main technique of instruction is observation and copying masters.
Here is one portion of her classroom set up with a still life:
