NEST empty in fog

I went through several phases with this one... several days... several colors... even wiped the whole image out with house paint and then dragged it back. I wanted to capture a sense of the empty nest dissolving into a sky of indistinct forms and yet containing some bright hope. (yellow?) What makes this situation so unique? Nothing. I strip away illusions and find myself, my nest, no different than everybody else's!
Medium size, have to get back and actually measure it!

NEST OF NAILS

This is a little different from my other work- I found a block of wood and painted a quick "egg" symbolic, to me, of a "new idea". Then I took about 57 nails and screws and pounded and twisted them in...as I thought about how every idea takes work and lots of small parts to make it a real big idea. So this was sort of magical for me ... more about the process than the product!
It is about 5 x 7 x 2 inches... maybe 4 inches wide with the nails!!!!

Where I live is divine

I am procrastinating!
Need to focus, paint, clean, pay bills...
But its very beautiful outside and there is a soft breeze...

Walking on air

In spite of rain in the forcast and in the morning- we had a clear procession across the bridge yesterday. The crowds were wonderful, the energy was high and the views were awesome. You can see so far up and downt he river it feels like you are flying. Most of my pictures- before my camera died- are of the town flag bearers. I hope to see more images from other sources in the next few days. My favorite part of the whole thing was how well it all pulled together. Every detail was thought of- Jeanne and Alex and Sophia deserve a big toast and breakfast in bed!

LICK in Hudson

I just installed 8 paintings in the windows of LICK as part of the Columbia County Arts Council's 15th annual  Windows on Warren celebration of the arts. The guys, Christopher and Michael could not be nicer. They even have a cute pug to greet you. My work will be up there most of this month and is priced between $180 and $350. Have you ever tried Lavendar ice cream? It has no aroma but expands across the roof of your mouth and... I swear you smell it! Divine experience. The store will sell ice cream to the end of the month. Price about $6

Two tea cups to Toast some great artists

I spent a lot of the past week at art openings and studio tours. There were some things that deserve to be shared. I would like to propose a toast to Alison Palmer! If I had just one or two of her stoneware whimsical bowls I would be able to clear everything else out of the cabinets and feel very rich indeed. Right now her work is in the Hammond Museum's Goelet Gallery. My favorite was called "Chicken Boy"! I'd also like to propose a toast to Ellen Metzger O'Shea. Her Spring Hills Farm paintings at the Millbrook Winery Art In the Loft exhibition truly make you want to eat paint. They are luscious and so thick and glowing. I want to own one and just might scrape together the funds... its a good deal to buy art right now (hint hint)

Here is my Toast this Thursday:
painted paper- 16 x 12 inches. Under $100!
