Lady on path with birds and cage

PAINTING DREAM IMAGES. I am haunted by images of figures from my dreams. And though there is much to see with our eyes open I have decided to try to capture some of what I see with my eyes closed.
The lady rushing through the forest with a bird cage is an image that totally changed in the process of putting her on paper. Dreams are elusive enough to describe... painting them is like catching a slippery bug. In the dream I am sure that there were vultures in the trees- but in painting they turned into benign birds. Pigeons? The figure carries a cage and, though I am not sure what is in it, I know it's contents are held gingerly close to her. At first I thought the cage should carry bones... then a singing bird... then a fortune paper uncoiled that spells: LOVE. As it is, I don't know what she carries! I don't know who notices her pass by.
The second image I painted today is something I half saw and half slept through. How many times am I just unaware as I pass through this place? There are visions of quietly paired intimacy all about... Some pairs are lonely with in themselves. I think the name of this image is "Waiting" because the name "waiting for him to say something" is too long.
Both are acrylic on thick arches paper, 7 x 5 inches

PALM Trees sky at mom's

This is a painting I did January 19th of this year when I was first here helping my mother through a surgery. I am back- eleven months later- for a repeat event. So I post the painting twice. The house my mother lives in is practically a tree house and this view was one from my bed out the window. The sky outside is filling with wind and a storm brews off the coast... It occurs to me with the tiny errands and big worries, that I can't do a better depiction right now. My plate is too full to paint what I see.
The painting is a small 5 x 7 canvas panel, acrylic.
I am going to try to do something for tomorrow. But this painting will be posted on eBay if you are interested

Chicken hen with cowboy boots

Its time for me to hike down to Florida and help my mom out. The coffee pot is emptied, the studio is cleaned up, the plants are watered and the chicken feed is topped off.
This little painting on stretched canvas is 4 x 5 inches. SOLD

MAPLEBROOK EXHIBITION

The work is up and there is accompanying text about technique, themes, subject matter and symbolism. I took works from 1998 and paired them with works from 2008 to illustrate the continuity. It surprised me too. The school has open to the public viewing hours Saturdays and Sundays 1-4pm. Next Sunday December 6th there will be refreshments and I'd love to see people stop by.
All the best-

BFF PELICAN AND bird TEA

SOLD

So here is a small painting- I was playing with the new language- bff- (best friends forever.)...of texting.
Could a pelican and a cormorant have tea? Most of my friends are very different from myself. That is what makes life so interesting. Wouldn't this painting be, as a gift, an inspiring way to say you are glad to be someone's friend?

Thanksgiving drink- a toast

painted acrylic on cotton stretched canvas.
This is being offered on Ebay. later today.
I am wishing everybody a grateful pause in their day. I heard from somebody that you can find God, your higher power, your spiritual source, etc, in the pauses. So look for that.
Also, I hope all the hostesses and hosts can embrace the fact that EVEN TODAY they are only human. This holiday can be loaded with superhuman expectations and often the lack leads to feelings of defeat. Enjoy and remember that we are human beings on a spiritual journey.
