Conversation piece

Walking away from a painting at the easel (first moment) and then walking back (second moment). What have I done? It was looking so good when I left, and now it has fallen apart! This must be a conversation piece because it is not a pretty picture. I have to ask myself, "why do I paint, what do I need to say, why in this way?"

  1. Sweet girl - while I agree it's not "pretty," do you really paint to create prettiness? I don't think so. You paint to express emotions, to elicit thought, to give voice to confusion, pain, joy and love. So, if you are beating yourself up for not having produced something "pretty," I can only say "get over it." If there's something deeper that upsets you about your painting, then I apologize for the abruptness, but I just couldn't let you get into a place where "pretty" mattered that much.

  2. you are right. I am not sure what I am thinking. I just don't want to pollute with my attempts at painting.I only have four prepared panels left and I guess I am feeling miserly about using them and certtainly... not floundering in public and wasting materials!
