Dorothy Tanning has died

A farewell collage painting (of mine) for a great artist. It's an obit.
She lived a full life and died peacefully...

At 101, at home, in her sleep. Just yesterday.
She was a good friend of my grandma's and with her goes the last of the pioneering surrealists.
She said herself that her most prolific decade in the studio was when she was in her seventies. She started writing poetry in her eighties, publishing her most recent book just last fall. Contrary to what most people say, Ms. Tanning said that life got better as she got older!
Thank you Ms. Tanning.
I love those photos of her with Max Ernst. Her paintings are included in the Los Angeles LACMA exhibition, In Wonderland, which opened January 29th and will be up until May 6th.
